Abstract
For the production of hot-rolled strips at wide-strip hot rolling mills (HSМ), it is an urgent task to decreasing the number of standard sizes of cast slabs by width. Analysis of the reduction ability for thickness and width into the six-stand roughing group of the third generation HSM revealed a reserve for increasing the thickness reduction of the slab and limited possibilities for width reduction. To study the slab forming process in the roughing group of HSM, finite element modeling was used using the “Deform” software complex. Based on the results of finite element modeling, regression dependencies of the width and end edges of the unwinds from the distribution of transverse and height deformation by the rolling stands were constructed. These dependencies were used to optimize deformation modes according to the criterion of maximum reduction of slab width, as well as according to the criterion of minimum end cutting of the strips specified width. As a result of the search for optimal solutions, it was found that in order to increase the reduction along the width of the slab, it is advisable vertical rolls with a smooth barrel in the first and second universal stands to replace at rolls with box gauges similar to the rolls of a separate vertical stand, as well as redistribute the reductions through the thickness. Unified modes of slabs reduction by thickness and width in roughing group are proposed, which make it possible to reduce the number of standard sizes of slabs poured on Continuous Casting Machine (CCM), as well as to reduce the number of end trimmings on HSM, which contributes to improvement of energy efficiency of system "CCM-HSM"
