When reviewing manuscripts (hereinafter referred to as “papers”) submitted by their authors for publication in Theory and Technology of Metallurgical Production, the following procedures shall be applied:

  1. Papers that meet the presentation requirements shall be accepted for review.

  2. Papers shall be reviewed by experts with doctoral or PhD degrees, who specialize in the relevant fields of study.

  3. The type of review is a double “blind” review: when the author and the peer reviewer communicate via the editorial office of the journal.

  4. Review period: no longer than one month from the date when the peer reviewer has received the paper.

  5. Requirements for the content of the review:

  • current significance of issues being resolved,

  • originality and relevance of the solutions proposed,

  • scientific originality of the research findings,

  • practical significance of the research findings,

  • style and grammar of the paper, and

  • key strengths and weaknesses of the paper.

  1. The closing section of the review should give a reasonable opinion about the paper in general and clear recommendations, whether the paper is worth being published in the journal or it should be improved or rejected.

  2. If it is recommended to revise and improve the paper, the responsible secretary of the journal shall forward the review to the author with a proposal to re-write the paper following the reviewer’s comments or to provide his/her reasons for disagreeing with the reviewer’s comments (partially or fully).

  3. Within one month the author should re-write the article and submit it to the journal together with a written response to the reviewer’s comments (by highlighting the changes in the paper as a separate file). The revised (improved) paper shall be sent again for review together with the author’s comments. The date of receipt by the editorial office shall be deemed the date of submission of the revised paper.

  4. Maximum review period is two months from the date of submission of the paper to the editorial office to the date of the editorial staff’s decision.

  5. The editorial office shall reserve the right to reject the paper if it fails to meet the journal’s requirements or if the author is unable or unwilling to revise his/her paper following the reviewer’s comments.

  6. A paper that in the reviewer’s opinion should not be published shall not be accepted for further review.

  7. In the event of a negative review of the paper or its revised version, the paper shall be rejected and the author shall be notified about the reasons of such decision.

  8. Papers that were submitted and registered by the editorial office earlier shall be published first. Papers covering scientific problems of high relevance and containing innovative or original ideas may be published outside the established order as decided by the editorial staff.

  9. The editorial office of the journal keeps reviews for a minimum period of 5 years.

  10. If requested, copies of the reviews shall be forwarded to the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
