Abstract

Statistical analysis of an array of production data from 28 castings of low-carbon alloyed steel of grade 10KhNDP on slabs of curved type. Slabs of the same thickness of 250 mm and different widths were cast: 1030, 1080 and 1270 mm (four-stream casting mode) and 1450, 1560, 1650 mm (two-stream mode). The use of a two-stream casting mode was predominant – in 71.4% of cases. The most popular was the slab width of 1650 mm (39.3% of the blanks). Based on the results of chemical analysis of the metal of 77 samples, the liquidus temperature of steel was calculated, which varied in the in-terval from 1516 to 1519 °C. Averaged data on parameters of temperature-speed mode of metal casting are given: steel temperature before casting, me-tall overheating in intermediate ladle of continuous casting machine above liquidus temperature, speed of slab drawing from crystallizer. As a result of correlation and regression analysis, statistically significant decreasing linear dependences of the rate of pulling the slab out of the crystallizer on the overheating of the metal in the intermediate ladle of the CCM above the liquidus temperature were revealed. It has been established that the determining factor of high casting efficiency is the design features of curved-type castings - the number of slabs casting streams. For a four-way casting mode, the average values of the total casting speed and the duration of casting the metal of one melt approximately 1.5 times favorably differ from similar indicators of a two-way mode. The highest sum-mare casting speed and the shortest duration of metal casting of a single melt of steel of grade 10KhNDP were achieved when casting slabs with a cross-section of 250 × 1270 mm in four streams.
