Abstract
The article is issued the influence of electromagnetic modification on the macrostructure and microstructure of aluminum alloy grade A5E. The structure of the ingot in a rotary casting machine is non-uniform without modification during the crystallization process, that leads to the appearance of cracks and a large number of defective products. An electromagnetic modifier installation directly on a casting machine allows for significant improvement of the macrostructure of an A5E aluminum ingot and rod. The metal structure is refined and becomes more homogeneous. The effectiveness of modification was assessed by changes in grain size, shape and homogeneity of the alloy structure using metallographic studies. The work used samples from cast blanks and wire rod obtained at different parameters of current and frequency of the electromagnetic modifier. The microstructure were issued with optical microscope “Neophot 21”. The results of the R&D work confirmed the possibility of refining the crystalline structure of a continuously cast billet cast in a rotary casting machine by means of exposure to an electromagnetic field. The results of the R&D work confirmed the possibility of grinding the crystalline structure of a continuously cast blank cast in a rotary casting machine by exposure on an electromagnetic field. It is predicted that the use of this technology in industry will improve the technological efficiency of processing wire rod into wire by drawing. This will ensure a reduction in the volume of defective products due to structural defects.
