Abstract
The issues of the sufficiency of the initial oxygen in the metal-slag system during deep decarburization of metal are considered. Balance calculations are presented, supported by experimental data confirming the required level of oxygen content in the metal, the content of iron oxides in the slag at the decarburization stage to ensure carbon in the melt is less than 0.003%.
